This is a very LARGE resin Custom Replicas 1:20th scale F-1 engine that I painted about a year ago. This is a bit unusual for me in that it is literally ALL metallic, my client wanted a very realistic & weathered appearance, so this a bit of a challenge but quite rewarding in the end.
I started with a base coat of Touch ‘n’ Tone flat black primer (great stuff!) then mixed up various home brews of Model Master Metalizer lacquers applied with an airbrush. This was sealed with Metalizer sealer, I then airbrushed various shades of Vallejo “sepia inks” and re-sealed with aforementioned metalizer sealer. I also applied some Flory Models weathering wash and again sealed.
